The NFL began its probe of Jameis Winston last week, and started by speaking with Buccaneers’ head of security Andres Trescastro.
According to ESPN, which cited an unidentified league source, the league’s talks with Trescastro were “more introductory and exploratory.” The investigation into allegations against the Bucs quarterback will continue but is not expected to be completed by the end of this season.
Winston, who settled a civil lawsuit stemming from the rape accusations in 2012 nine months after the alleged encounter with Kate, denied the incident and asserted that Kate “was confused as to the number of passengers in the car and who was sitting next to her.”
Winston is currently dealing with a sprained AC joint he sustained in Week 6 that has forced him to be sidelined for his third straight game Sunday against the Falcons.
Here’s a look at what has been going on in the prospect pipelines for each team in the Central Division, including our way-too-early 2018-19 watch for players who can make an impact a year from now.
The Blackhawks are in a bit of a transitional phase; this isn’t uncommon territory for them, but this time it seems to be a little rockier as their core continues to lose pieces and ages. Despite years of either trading away their picks or finding themselves lower in the first round, the Hawks have managed to maintain a decent prospect pipeline. There isn’t a lot of great depth at this point, which is the primary concern, but a few middle-round picks are starting to emerge as potential options down the line.
Henri Jokiharju, the team’s most recent first-round pick, has been having a sensational season for Portland in the WHL. The defenseman is averaging over a point per game and is expected to play a substantial role for Finland at the World Juniors.
The vicious nature of Monday’s Pittsburgh-Cincinnati matchup has drawn criticism, but Mike Tomlin says it’s just football.
“It’s hard to tell,” Rodgers-Cromartie said. “I can say he comes in here in the right mindset and comes in and puts his stuff on and goes out there and practices. He does what is asked of him. I think, for the most part, he gets it.”
Watching the game live, right before this third-down play, I thought to myself, “the Browns are going to fluke themselves into their first win of this season, aren’t they?”
Apparently, I had Ngakoue and nem all the way fucked up.
The Jaguars decided to blitz Smith, who was walked up on the line, off the left edge. Fowler was in the game and lined up as the left defensive end in a five technique inside of Smith. Malik Jackson was lined up as the left three technique, and on the snap of the football he and Fowler ran a quick TEX game.
Right when it looked as if rising star Ben Simmons might lift the 76ers to an unlikely road victory, a guy that used to have Simmons’ job in Philadelphia took over in the clutch and rescued the Pelicans.
Jrue Holiday made five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, when he scored 19 of his 34 points, and New Orleans overcame an eight-point deficit in the final period to beat short-handed Philadelphia 131-124 on Sunday night.
The 6-foot-4 Holiday, an Eastern Conference All-Star in Philadelphia before being traded to New Orleans in 2013, struggled to create scoring chances on dribble drives against the 6-foot-10 Simmons, missing eight of his first 12 shots. He shifted his focus to passing out of his drives and committed five turnovers.
“I don’t think there’s much to say anymore,” Gibson said of the Ducks’ injury woes. “We get frustrating playing with it, but we have what we have, and we keep playing. It’s a credit to everybody here.”
Justin Williams scored and Scott Darling stopped 20 shots for the Hurricanes, who have lost four straight and six of seven. Carolina went winless on its three-game California road swing, although it picked up overtime points on the first two stops.
“He will be the first to admit he’s missed more nets and hit more posts, but for me the mindset of him taking the puck to the net and scoring in tight, that’s big,” Blues coach Mike Yeo said. “If he continues to do that, he won’t be stopped.”
There is no magic solution to the Chiefs’ offensive issues. It will take improved play from everyone across the board and more from the coaching staff. That’s the answer. Play better. Run the ball more. Force Alex to take chances with empty formations. Block better in the run game. Trust the pocket. Catch the ball. That’s it. It’s simple.
“He really used his technique, energy, multiple efforts and mental stability to be in a lot of places that were pretty disruptive,” Spoelstra said.
Olynyk added: “There’s plays in practice all the time where you’re like: `Man, this guy’s a freak. Where did that even come from?’ And he’s starting to string more of those plays together every day.”
Regarding the Grizzlies talking with each other about the overall problems, Gasol said: “I don’t think talk does much. It’s doing. I always believe that talk is great, and we’re going to say the right things, and we can sit down and sing `Kumbaya,’ but it’s more about grabbing it and taking ownership of the things we have to do.”
For the first five games of the season, Smith had his full complement of offensive skill players — Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Chris Conley, and Albert Wilson.
Coming off one of the best games of his career, a 30-10 victory against Indianapolis, Bortles was equally efficient and effective against the Seahawks.
Two of his better throws ended up in the end zone. He floated an 18-yarder early in the third quarter to rookie Dede Westbrook, the first for the 2016 Heisman Trophy finalist. Bortles’ second one was even better, a deep pass that hit Keelen Cole in stride and went for 75 yards.
Cole’s second touchdown in as many weeks came on the ensuing play after Wilson connected with Doug Baldwin for a 26-yard score that tied it at 10.
Morrissey scored his fourth goal of the season with a redirection on a 3-on-1 with Adam Lowry and Andrew Copp at 11:38 and Perreault finished it off with the 100th of his nine-year career.
Winnipeg was without defenseman Dustin Byfuglien, who was put on injured reserve with a lower-body injury suffered in last Saturday’s 4-3 overtime loss to Tampa Bay. Head coach Paul Maurice said he didn’t expect him back on the ice until after Christmas. Rookie Tucker Poolman took his roster spot.
Cleveland has won 14 of 15 without Thompson, including a 121-114 victory over Atlanta on Nov. 30.
“Everyone goes through it and Tristan is a big part of what we do, so we gotta figure out how we got to use him,” Lue said. “We gotta do that so I have a plan in place and we’ll see how it works.”
“Oh man, it’s going to be exciting, especially this week,” Andre Ellington told reporters. “There’ll be a lot of smack talk around here.”
Andre, a sixth-round pick of the Cardinals in 2013, has played sparingly this season with just 15 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. He has 1,750 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns over his five-year career. The Texans need help at running back after a season-ending injury to rookie D’Onta Foreman last Sunday.
McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese have since been fired. Manning was reinserted as the starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.
“I wasn’t,” he said earlier this week. “Any competitor wouldn’t be. To be put in that situation where you get a chance to play, and then you’re being pulled, but it’s not because you played bad, so you try to figure out why. But you got to understand that some things happen in this business, and you just got to roll with it.”
Sunday’s key late game was an NFC South clash between the Panthers and Saints. With its win over Carolina, New Orleans maintained its hold on first place in the division and a home game in the postseason.
Sunday’s nightcap was an intriguing game in Seattle, where the visiting Eagles, the best team in the NFL record-wise, looked to extend their streak of dominance. The Seahawks didn’t exactly roll over for the Eagles, though, as the hosts kept pace with the Rams in the NFC West with a one-sided victory.
The source said Caldwell’s extension is guaranteed for only 2018 with team options beyond that, so if the Lions decide to fire Caldwell, they would have to pay him for next season only.
Mack Hollins celebrated his first NFL touchdown with a well-executed nod to Backpack Kid, a kid who stole the show from Katy Perry on Saturday Night Live back in May. Other players have tried this one, but it was Hollins who really nailed it.

The prosecutor said: Cipriani seems to have a change of heart at this stage. The league changes, Grimm said. There’s no sugar the house.- Pittsburgh Steelers July 30 – Pittsburgh Steelers July 30 Even for a franchise with such a tradition, there’s little doubt that Mean is the best Steeler ever.One-year wonder.
Each of Philadelphia’s last five wins have come by double digits and each of the team’s last four wins have come by at least 23 points. Carson Wentz is making a strong case for league MVP with an NFL-leading 28 touchdown passes to go along with 2,657 passing yards and only five interceptions.

At the top of this 4-6 cluster are the Los Angeles Chargers.
They began the season 0-4. They are 4-2 since.
They have lost games in excruciating ways, with wayward kicks and killer drops and dim-witted decisions.
Stafford appeared to injure the hand on his throwing arm in the fourth quarter of Detroit’s Week 13 showdown. Stafford hit the ground awkwardly after taking a big hit and came up holding his hand.
He was replaced by Jake Rudock. Fortunately for Detroit, his X-rays came back negative.
What this means for the Lions: This could be bad, though obviously not as bad as if he’d suffered a broken bone. Stafford suffered ligament damage to his throwing hand last season and was a markedly different player afterward. Detroit lost four straight games after a 9-4 start, including a 26-6 playoff beating at the hands of the Seahawks. At 6-6, the Lions face an uphill climb to the postseason. Without Stafford, they might not be able to take the first step on that journey.
But surely the Raiders retain a better chance than Miami or the Jets because the Raiders present the better quarterback, Derek Carr. Right? OK? Yeah. Our eyes are currently showing us something else but we will keep believing that for now.
Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey was ejected Sunday against the Bengals for his role in an altercation with A.J. Green, but he had at least one fan within his organization.
Jaguars executive vice president Tom Coughlin praised Ramsey for physical play and a calm head even after Green brought him to the ground and started punching him.
Maxwell and Jeremy Lane — who’s starting at left cornerback in Sherman’s absence — were both flagged for pass interference penalties that cost Seattle a total of 41 yards. Carroll noted the impact of those penalties but said Maxwell held up well.
I feel like today we were out there playing hard as hell. I didn’t feel too soft today out there. I felt really good. That’s just constructive criticism that, as a man, you’ve got to take it.”
Backstrom remains without a goal in his last 16 games.
Jones explained some of the issues he has with Goodell’s contract extension, the biggest being that he thinks the contract should be approved by all 32 NFL owners.
“I basically feel this extension of Roger should go and be reviewed and approved by all the owners, not just a few of the owners,” Jones said. “The committee that basically negotiates the salary with our commissioner is taking the view, especially the chairman, that they, in a limited group, can complete this agreement.
Two GOATs? Apparently so, according to Miller, who won is lone Super Bowl to date with Manning under center in 2015.
Charlie McCoy scored in the 11th round of the shootout to lift the Boston Bruins to a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night.
Anton Khudobin made 40 saves as Boston improved to 9-7-4 with its third straight win-all with Khudobin in goal.
The Bruins struck first when rookie left winger DeBrusk opened the scoring with his fifth of the season with a shot from the right circle at 1:25. And Bergeron added to Boston’s lead with his fifth of the season at 11:02.
The Bruins had a two-goal lead and Khudobin, who made his third straight start, tried to make it hold up with a pad save on a Nico Hischier break-in with and a diving stop on Travis Zajac in a span of 1:13. But there was nothing he could do on Bratt’s power play goal with 2:50 left as New Jersey’s rookie right winger lifted a loose puck in the slot to halve the deficit while Brian Boyle was tied up with Zdeno Chara in front of Khudobin. A video review upheld the goal.
Freeney is 17th on the NFL’s all-time sack list with 125.5, which is second among active players behind Julius Peppers’ 151. He’s in his 16th season, and the Seahawks were his fifth team.
Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter told reporters on Monday that the Bucs are shutting Winston down for a few weeks to rest his shoulder after undergoing an MRI. In the meantime, backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will replace Winston as the starter.
“We’re going to be going with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Ryan Griffin will be the No. 2,” Koetter said, according to CBS Tampa.
Winston originally injured his shoulder in Week 6 against the Cardinals, leaving the game in the second quarter while Fitzpatrick filled in for him.
This will be the first time in 40 career NFL games that Winston will miss a start. Since he’s been injured, the Bucs (2-6) have lost their last three games and extended their losing streak to five straight games.
The NFL has had enough of Jerry Jones.
“Someone who is genuinely concerned ‘that the owners know the truth about the negotiations’ would not deliberately distribute such an outdated document, particularly when he has in his possession drafts that are current and accurately reflect the actual state of negotiations, or threaten to sue the league and its owners if he does not get his way,” the letter said.
A ProFootballTalk report suggested that “multiple owners” have discussed the possibility of trying to force Jones to sell his team, though Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones, Jerry’s son, found the notion “laughable,” adding (via 103.5 The Fan), “We don’t take it serious.”
The league potentially could revert to a previous approach in which players stay in the locker rooms while the national anthem plays, the Washington Post reported.
The change was made in 2009, requiring players and coaches to be on the field during the anthem. While the current NFL policy does not require players to stand during the anthem, it strongly encourages them to do so.
It is still too early to know what exactly will happen with the policy, but one unidentified owner told the Post that they were “not sure” if a formal vote from the owners would be required, however, the owner indicated that “most owners would support it, particularly if players continue to kneel this season.”
Several other unidentified sources shared the same sentiments around the anthem policy, but also warned that there have been no “detailed discussions” yet because owners did not think it is appropriate to make an in-season change to the policy. There is an annual league meeting in March when the anthem policy issues could be addressed.
